A chance to discover your voice, your potential and the right way forward.

Every student learns differently, which is why the first lesson at L.S. Music Studio is designed as a personalised introduction rather than a one size fits all class.

Your First Time?

First-time students can begin with a 45-minute trial lesson for $40.

Trial lessons are paid for in advance to reserve the selected appointment.

Our 45-minute trial lesson gives us the opportunity to get to know the student, understand their musical background and goals, and discover how they learn best. For younger students, the session may include fun activities and musical games that allow us to naturally observe their rhythm, pitch, listening skills, coordination and confidence without making the experience feel like an assessment.

For vocal students, we may explore pitch, rhythm, breathing, vocal range, pronunciation, projection, tone and musical expression through exercises and songs suited to their age and ability. For piano students, we may look at their existing technique, music reading, coordination, rhythm and musical understanding, or introduce them to the instrument if they are completely new.

We also take the time to understand what the student hopes to achieve. This could be preparing for an LCM or ABRSM examination, developing confidence, working towards a performance or competition, learning to sing and play at the same time, improving a particular area of technique, or simply enjoying music as a hobby.

At the end of the trial, we can discuss what we have observed, what the student can work towards and which lesson programme would be most suitable. There is no expectation to have a specific goal before coming in. Sometimes the first lesson is simply about discovering what a student enjoys and what they are capable of.

What To Expect

The trial is 45 minutes of one-to-one instruction in a comfortable and encouraging studio environment. The lesson is adapted according to the student’s age, experience and chosen programme, so no previous musical experience is required.

Most importantly, we want students to leave their first lesson feeling encouraged rather than judged. The purpose of the trial is not to determine whether someone is “good enough” for music. It is to discover where they are starting from and how we can help them grow from there.
